Samsung leads in the number of investments in crypto startups

According to a recent report released by Blockdata, the total investment in crypto projects over the past year was estimated around $6 billion. Samsung was named the most active investor.

Blockdata has analysed the investments of large companies in blockchain startups and crypto projects between September 2021 and June 2022 and made a rating of the companies that invested heavily in such projects.

In the first place is Samsung. The company has invested $979 million in 13 projects connected with the crypto industry. In second place is the Singapore United Overseas Bank, which has invested in 7 startups. Citigroup and Goldman Sachs, which invested in six and five projects, respectively, occupy third and fourth places.

In just over a year, 40 major companies around the world have invested in crypto projects. The exact figures on the volume of investments made by each of the companies were not given. However, analysts at Blockdata reported that the total amount of investments is around $6 billion.

Earlier, Samsung representatives said that the company is going to create its own crypto exchange in order to develop in a new market. Several other major South Korean companies have also applied for licences to launch crypto exchanges.

Samsung is also interested in the NFT industry. In January, the company announced the release of TVs with an NFT marketplace. Last spring, a crypto wallet with that supports Ethereum, TRON and Bitcoin was added to the Galaxy series smartphones.
