Web3-focused Opera Crypto Browser now supports Metamask and other popular crypto wallets. The representatives of Opera Software said that this upgrade will provide users with all the tools they need to work safely with Web3.
This update, which Opera representatives describe as “one of the largest updates since the launch of the browser,” was rolled out ahead of Ethereum’s transition from the Proof-of-Work (PoW) consensus algorithm to the less energy-intensive Proof-of-Stake (PoS) algorithm. The transition is expected this week. Many companies reacted to the news about the upcoming Merge. Google launched a countdown clock, and Binance introduced zero-fee trading for the ETH/BUSD spot trading pair.
According to Susie Batt, Crypto Ecosystem Lead at Opera, Ethereum’s “merge” is the most important technological update in the history of the crypto industry. The transition to PoS will allow Ethereum to become secure and ready to be used by the mainstream user.
Batt noted that Opera Crypto Browser is a browser that is fully ready for the Merge and is able to provide users with all the tools they need to work safely with Web3. The company intends to continue to introduce other wallets, blockchains and tokens into the browser.
Users will be able to select a crypto wallet in the address bar by using the feature called Wallet Selector. In addition, the developers have strengthened protection against phishing and hacking, and added a checking tool for malicious URLs.
Also, Hot Tweets have appeared in the built-in Crypto Corner service, which provides the latest news of the crypto industry and educational content. Popular tweets about crypto will be shown there.
Earlier, Opera also announced the integration of BNB Chain. Due to this, Opera users will be able to receive and send BNB using a special built-in crypto wallet.
