Mir successfully tested in South Korea

At the end of 2020, Russia’s Mir payment platform carried out its first successful test transactions in Seoul, the capital and largest metropolis of South Korea, as reported by TASS (Russia’s leading news agency).

The pilot cards transactions were implemented in the network of Mir’s partner, BC Card Co. Ltd., a leading payment platform company in South Korea. This successful testing was also announced in Mir’s press release.

As reported, the implementation of this joint project was carried out remotely as all managerial and technical works were performed online.

The South Korean company (BC Card Co. Ltd.) is preparing to complete the preparatory phase and begin the deployment of a network of special equipment (POS terminals and ATMs) to work with Mir cards in the first quarter of 2021. The Russian National Payment Card System (NSPK), which ensures uninterrupted processing of transactions performed using other international payment systems’ cards in Russia and the Russian Mir card, notes that after the completion of the plans, the holders of Mir cards will be able to use them in the equipment of BC Card Co. Ltd.

Not long ago, NSPK launched a similar pilot project, through a partnership with PayXpert, for the acceptance of Mir cards in European countries. PayXpert is a leading payment platform that is certified to process both e-commerce and face-to-face POS based transactions for merchants in over 28 countries in Europe.

Today, NPS cards are freely accepted and serviced by 265 banks, while Mir cards are issued in 151 financial institutions.
