ecoPayz has stopped processing transfers in Norway

ecoPayz and Norway

Each Scandinavian country has its own rules and regulations for online gambling. In Norway, private and public lotteries and gambling are controlled by the Gambling Authority. If the games are not offered by the two companies Norsk Tipping and Norsk Rikstoto, then they are considered illegal. Thus, gambling remains illegal for the most part in Norway.

Before, gambling transactions in Norway could be made through the ecoPayz payment system. Norwegian players have chosen foreign casino brands that work with the e-wallets of European licensed companies and easily bypassed the Norwegian government’s ban on issuing bank cards to online casinos.

However, strict laws have not bypassed payment systems either. From April 1, 2021, ecoPayz has limited all deposits and withdrawals from gambling platforms for players from Norway.

Despite these strict restrictions, Norway ranks third in Europe in terms of the number of players. Many online casinos and entertainment portals offer alternative deposit and withdrawal options for Norwegian citizens. If Norwegian law prohibits the activities of gambling sites for entertainment without the necessary license, the very participation of citizens in unlicensed gambling activities is still not a crime.
