The major crypto exchanges have started sending funds to help victims of the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria. Binance, Bybit, Huobi, Bitget, as well as some others have already offered their help.
Donations in cryptocurrency are prohibited in Turkey, but a charity organisation called Ahbap managed to get permission from the Financial Crimes Investigation Board in Turkey to raise donations in cryptocurrency and publish the addresses of wallets to which funds can be sent.
Binance intends to give $100 of BNB tokens to all users living in areas affected by the earthquake. According to preliminary estimates, the total amount of funds directed to help will be about $5 million.
In addition, Binance Charity has created an address to which anyone can send funds. Then these funds will be transferred to an organisation that helps those in need. Donations are accepted in Bitcoin, BNB, Ethereum, Ripple and BUSD.
OKX and Bitget will provide one million Turkish lira each to support earthquake victims.
Bybit will donate $100 thousand to the Turkey Disaster and Management Authority. Gate.io will send 1 million Turkish lira, and create a special fund for donations.
Keet, Bitfinex, Synonym and Tether will jointly provide 5 million Turkish lira. They will also look for opportunities for further assistance to Turkey on a permanent basis.

It is the most destructive earthquake in the region since 1939. According to the latest data, as a result of a natural disaster, 1.5 thousand people died in Syria, and more than 3.5 thousand people died in Turkey.
